5 simple date ideas for mornings
Written by Emma Merkas
Sometimes, the only time you can find for a date night with your spouse isn't at night at all! During hectic weeks, consider stealing a sliver of time together in the morning. Spending a few hours on a lazy Saturday or even getting up early to have a date before work is the perfect way to start any day.
1. Go Out for Breakfast

Find a great new cafe near home or work and head there early for a decadent breakfast while you read the papers and slowly wake up together over your eggs.
2. Have a Breakfast Picnic

If it’s a lovely sunny day, head out to a nearby park and take breakfast with you. Think small bottles of juice, continental pastries or croissants, fresh fruit, or even cereal (I’ve seen it done!).

Spread out your blanket and enjoy the fresh energy of the morning… people jogging past, commuters on their way to work, kids playing. Mornings have their own unique feel.

3. Watch the Sunrise

When was the last time you watched a sunrise? If you’re feeling super perky, get up at the crack of dawn (or… well… before the crack of dawn!) and drive together to an east-facing lookout where you can drink in the daily miracle of the emerging sun.

Take a few blankets and snuggle together as the sun comes up. Drop into a bakery on your way back home to pick up still-warm goodies for breakfast.

4. Serve Breakfast in Bed

Get all the fixings for your sweetie’s favorite breakfast and slip out of bed early to prepare them a surprise gourmet breakfast.

Serve it on a tray in bed along with a single flower, their favorite morning paper, and fresh-squeezed OJ. Stay in bed a little longer than usual snuggling.

5. Exercise Early

There’s nothing like a workout to start your day off right. Get up early together to hit the pavement for a long walk, a leisurely jog, or just a flat-out run if you’re both so inclined. Find a community yoga class in the park. Practice Tai Chi. Whatever floats your exercise boat. When you get back home, how about a shower together to get off all that sweat? Scrub each other’s back, wash each other’s hair, get clean.

There you have it, 5 fresh ideas for fun and simple date nights for the morning. Enjoy!
